The Artist

Bubby Costa

Eccentric, authentic, controversial, feminist, joking, charismatic, conqueror, affectionate.

There are many adjectives that make this human being an artist.

Irreverent with a sharp eye he directed people like no one else and had total command and improvisation of the light.

He was one of the precursors of female nudes in Brazil. In the 70s and 80s he recorded the beauty of famous women for Status Magazine and calendars such as Dunlop, Motorcraft (Ford) and Goodyear.

Working with Editora Abril, he was the first photographer to have his pictures printed simultaneously on the main covers of the country (Veja, Capricho, Quatro Rodas, Homem, Cláudia, among others).

In the 90s, 2000s, and 2010s he made portraits and authorial works about the feminine universe.

Personalities from Bahia, Sao Paulo, Brazil and interational were captured by this icon that has in its collection a history of 50 years of Photography in the country.

He has exhibited in several galleries and museums around the world and has images catalogued at the MAM SP and Museu Afro.

Bubby knew how to capture moments and direct people with mastery and finesse to bring her ideas to fruition.

An eternal voyeur who today watches us proudly from the arms of little angels in heaven.
